Vote Yes On The Open Space Referendum
Dear Verona Residents:
Tuesday is Election Day. We have an important local question on the ballot.
As your Councilwoman, I highly recommend that you vote YES on our Verona open space referendum, which is asking voters to raise the Open Space Trust Fund levy from 2 cents to 3 cents per $100 of assessed value. More information to make an informed decision can be found here: https://www.veronanj.org/open-space.
As regular readers of these updates, you know why we put this question on the ballot. Verona needs to fully finance the open space purchase that we made in 2020, and the increase in the levy will allow us to do so. Most of the funds raised by this increase will pay off the debt of the purchase of those 25 acres of undeveloped land located by the Peckman and off of Mt. Prospect. Preserving those lands from development was an important priority of the Council, and had huge benefits to the Township.
