August 18th Meeting Summary

The Council met for a second time in August with a fairly efficient public meeting.

We approved a three year lease for trailers for our police department, which will be installed in front of town hall. They will be used as locker rooms when the police return to the building. The total three year cost will not exceed $53,000.

We approved several contracts for the police department, including lights, new bulletproof vests, new firearms, and a new vehicle. We also authorized a contract with OxBlue for security for the Everett Field site while the construction is ongoing.

We authorized the removal of another extraordinary tree. Additional monies were accepted from the National Opioid Settlement.

We talked in new business a bit about the timing of approvals for the new police and fire department building. The Administration is recommending that we vote on this project in October or November.

More on that project and a summary of the 4+ hour meeting we had on the building on August 13th is forthcoming. Check back here for additional updates.

Our one and only meeting in September is Monday September 8th. We will have several substantial project updates at that meeting.

Any feedback to the Council should be sent to all five members, using the convenient form here: https://www.veronanj.org/councilcontactform.
